Oncopole is a center for research, development and investment to accelerate the fight against cancer.
The idea took shape during a discussion between members of the Quebec delegation at BIO 2015, including Dr. Gaétan Barrette (Minister of Health and Social Services), Mr. Rémi Quirion (Quebec’s Chief Scientist) and Merck executives and scientists, including the President and General Manager of Merck Canada Inc., Mr. Chirfi Guindo.
The aim was to build bridges between the various resources available to ensure a coherent and competitive system in Quebec. The project was born of a desire to demonstrate the remarkable spirit of collaboration that exists in Quebec.
A unique public-private partnership co-creation process. Merck will invest $15 million over three years to launch Oncopole, which will operate under the auspices of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS).
