Oncopole’s mission is to act as a catalyst and exploit the full potential of Quebec’s cancer research and innovation ecosystem, while positioning the province as a key player in the field. Its priorities for action – research, entrepreneurship, commercialization and integration of innovation, and clinical relevance – are orchestrated with the aim of mobilizing the ecosystem, discovering innovative approaches to the fight against cancer and, ultimately, generating positive spin-offs for the benefit of patients.

ONCOPOLE EMC2: Multi-institutional cancer teams

The EMC2 competition resulted in an investment of nearly $12 million, supporting seven federative oncology projects in Quebec. This investment was made possible by an unprecedented collaboration with leading funders, including the Cancer Research Society, CQDM, IRICoR and Génome Québec. The partners made it possible to double the budget initially planned by Oncopole, an initiative supported by Merck Canada Inc.

Patient Priority 2023 competition

Launched in 2021, the Priorité patient grant program is offered by Oncopole – the cancer cluster of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS), and with the collaboration of the Programme québécois de cancérologie (PQC) of the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux.

Oncopole, the FRQS’s cancer cluster, has set up a forum bringing together Quebec’s leading academic oncology research clusters to explore how cancer research can help reduce the negative consequences or capitalize on the positive changes that the pandemic has brought to the care of people affected by cancer.

Scholarship Competition – Entrepreneurship in Oncology (CEO)

IRICoR and the Oncopole have joined forces to launch the 3rd edition of Scholarship Competition – Entrepreneurship in Oncology (CEO), offering the next generation of scientists an opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills, along with their academic skills. Ten scholarships will be offered to the recipients, allowing them to take part in the Life Sciences Entrepreneurship Development Program.
